New Special Medicare Enrollment Period for 2011-2012

Medicare is adding more choice to consumers and has added a Special Open Season Medicare Enrollment Period which begins Dec 8, 2011. On Dec 8th you can switch to a 5-star Medicare Advantage Plan at any time during the year. A 5 star Medicare Advantage Plan the the best possible rating by Medicare. Medicare Enrollment Period if  just turning 65? 

When do you first become eligible for Medicare?  You can join during the 7-month period that begins 3 months before the month you turn 65, includes the month you turn 65, and ends 3 months after the month you turn 65. If you get Medicare due to a disability, you can join during the 7-month period that begins 3 months before your 25th month of disability and ends 3 months after your 25th month of disability.
